When you register with a credit card online, a receipt will be sent to your email. You will then receive an email reminder the evening prior or morning of the event, reminding you that you are registered and confirming the date, start time, and location. Please call us if you do not get this reminder email, we may have the wrong information for you.

Whenever you use Canadian dating sites, it’s import to check that the site is secure. At Single in the City, we have a secure online registration system that will process your credit card. If you feel uncomfortable using your credit card over the internet, we can take your reservation over the phone; however it may take longer for you to register by phone as it could take 1-2 business days to respond to your call.  To register by phone please call 1-866-740-SITC. If you are registering by phone, please try to call at least a week prior to the event of your choice to avoid it being sold out. Phone messages left do not reserve tickets; you must speak with a representative and give payment before a ticket will be held for you. For faster registration you should book online. Once you pay you will be that much closer to getting into the Toronto or Montreal dating scene!

Most events must be booked in advance, some events you may be able to pay at the door (this will be stated under each individual event).  Another option would be to mail in payment.  If you register early enough you can send a money order or certified cheque to the address listed on our contact us page.  If you are planning to register using a money order or certified cheque, please call and speak to one of our representatives first to ensure there are tickets left and so we know to be expecting your order. If you are sending payment by regular mail, please be sure to include the following:  Name (first and last), Email address, Ph#, Age, Gender, City and the event you are registering for.

The best way to cancel for an event is to send an email using our Contact Us  form and leave a message at 1-866-740-7482 to ensure your cancellation is received.

There are no refunds or credits on mixers/parties or special event registrations. Speed dating events require 5 business days’ notice for a credit or refund.

If an event does not fill, we will postpone it and transfer your reservation.  If an event is cancelled by us due to not filling, you will have the option of a credit towards any future event or a full refund.

Each event or activity has a different price; please check the event details for price.

We give or take 1-4 years leeway on the age range listed for each event.  It is up to you to make the decision to attend. If you are still not sure, give us a call and we can help you out. After all, when it comes to using online dating sites it’s important to keep an open mind and “age is just a number”!

Our events generally target single men and women between the ages of 21- 55.  Each event will have a specific age range listed.  We do not have as many events for the 50+ age group as they are more challenging to fill. Check our events calendar periodically for events in your age range.

We target urban professionals from different cities.  If you are single, busy and looking for a safer, more interesting way to meet people our events may be for you.  If you come to our events with a positive attitude and the desire to meet new people, you will have a great time! If you want to learn more about your options when it comes to Toronto dating, or dating in any other city, take a look at our picture gallery for a better idea of the people that attend Single in the City events.

Single in the City offers many great ways to get out and meet new and interesting people.  Now don’t forget that when you activate a profile on an online dating site, you’re putting your information in a public place for others to see. Use common sense and don’t put any information on your profile that you wouldn’t be comfortable letting a stranger know about you. Just trust your instincts and use common sense. If you are planning on meeting someone in person you should always remember the following:
  • Always meet someone in a public and safe place like a restaurant or coffee shop and never invite them over to your house right away.
  • Never give out your home or office phone number as an initial means of contact.
  • Tell someone you know where you’re going to be, the name of the person you’re meeting, what they look like and when you expect to be home.
  • Don’t have a stranger pick you up, provide your own transportation to and from the date.
  • Plan for a short first date so that if you feel uncomfortable, you have an easy way out.
  • Look out for warning signs when you’re chatting through emails.  If a person seems too eager, professes their love for you just after a few weeks before meeting or starts to ask you for money, good chance it won’t happen and the person may be a scammer.
  • Overall, use your common sense and good judgment. If you get a bad feeling about your date, it may be better to simply cancel.
As members of our Single in the City community, please report any material you find inappropriate or offensive so we can make your Toronto dating experience as enjoyable as possible.

The dress code at most of our events is upscale casual.   We recommend you put some effort into your appearance and dress to impress. No hats or runners allowed.

We do not guarantee equal numbers of men to women or vice versa at our mixers, parties and dances.  We try to keep the male to female ratio as equal as possible.

Most mixers, parties and dances have an option to buy tickets at the door.

Most parties will have complimentary appetizers and a cash bar, however each event is different. Be sure to check what is included with the event you are attending.

No…it’s up to you to approach, flirt away and find the confidence to ask for a number or email. After all, that’s what Toronto dating is all about!

A dance or mixer usually includes DJ and dancing, appetizers, cash bar, and some sort of interactive mixer game in the beginning to get everyone mingling. Some parties, dances and mixers have special themes and may have or not have some of the items mentioned above. Check each party listing for specific details of the event as each event is different.

Single in the City is different than other Canadian dating sites because we have events with unique games. The Lock and Key Party is an exciting ice-breaker! Men get keys and women get locks; each key fits several locks and each time a lock is opened, both people get tickets to enter into a raffle for prizes. They then get new locks and keys with which to go out and meet more people.  The more you play the more prize tickets you get and the better chance you have at winning a prize.  Of course…the main reason to participate is to mix and mingle.

Another thing that sets us apart from other Canadian dating sites is our commitment to excellent customer service. Occasionally we may have to cancel or postpone an event. If an event is cancelled or postponed due to an uneven or inadequate number of registrants, we will offer you the choice to transfer to the new event date, to keep a credit towards a future event on file, or to get a refund.  In the cases where we have listed an event with specific details such as date, venue and age range and one or more of those items must be changed due to circumstances beyond our control (ie: weather, venue, issues etc.) the clients will be notified of the change as soon as possible and the event may be postponed. If the event is postponed and a cancellation of the event ultimately occurs by Single in the City due to a decrease in attendance, a credit (not refund) will be issued. In the event that a client cannot attend a new postponed date a “Credit” will be issued (Credits are for the dollar value of a purchased ticket that can be used at a future date). A “Credit” or refund may be issued (at SITC’s discretion)for changes in age range or city, if requested. However, if an event venue is changed but remains in the same city, no refunds or credits will be given, as the event will continue to run in the same city and same age range listed.  In the case of double speed dating events (ie: two events with different age groups held on the same date at the same venue) cancellations are not accepted based on attendance with a friend. ie. You register with a friend who is in the opposite age group and one of the age groups has to be cancelled for any reason, a refund/credit will not be applied if the event (group) you registered for is still running.

Cancellations must be made 5 business days prior to the day of the speed dating event in order to receive a refund or credit. There are NO cancellations on speed dating events that are booked using your free “no picks” event code. If cancelled within 5 business days prior to the event date free “no picks” events may be transferrable to anotherspeed dating event within 4 weeks of the cancelled event and must be selected at time of cancellation.

The “sign up with a friend deal” is randomly posted on individual events. It is offered to registrants that sign up with one or more friends and will feature a discount per person.  Some events have a reduced cost for men only or women only.

The dress code at most of our events is upscale casual.   We recommend you put some effort into your appearance and dress to impress. No hats or runners allowed.

Matches will be posted to your account 24-48hrs following the event. You will also receive email notification telling you that your matches have been posted, another feature that sets us apart from other Canadian dating sites.

Speed dating events generally last about 2.5 – 3.5 hours.

Each event is different and will run with a minimum of 10 dates to a maximum of 25 dates depending on the event.

Mutual matches will be provided with your first name, last initial and email address. If you are a FULL member your matches will also get a link to your online dating profile. The email address used for exchange will be the one that was provided via your membership account.  To change this email you can log into MY ACCOUNT and change it, this must be done prior to 12 hours following the event.  EVENT ONLY  members also have the option of providing their matches with a photo and/or phone number. You can activate your photo or phone number preferences in MY ACCOUNT.

We won’t generally run a speed dating event with highly skewed numbers, although sometimes people don’t show up to the event and that’s beyond our control.  In fact, it’s very common to be off by 1-3 men or women at an event and this won’t affect the outcome at all, they can be just as fun and successful!

Registration and payment is required before the event to ensure that our numbers are fairly equal. We accept Visa or Mastercard.  Register by phone or online through our secure online registration system. If you haven’t registered, you can take your chances and show up at an event. If someone doesn’t show up, you may be able to take their spot.

We want your experience to be fun, comfortable and safe; therefore, we ask that you please refrain from the following:
  • Asking for contact information including phone #, address, last name, etc.
  • Asking for another date
  • Sexually explicit questions or threatening innuendos
  • We also SUGGEST you avoid the following topics:  exes, your dating history, politics, religion, and negative experiences.

Please bring your printed registration receipt with you.  All registered guests will be on a guest list at the door.

Your ticket cost includes the opportunity to meet all the eligible single men and women that evening and delicious munchies at half time.

During speed dating in Toronto, or anywhere else for that matter, ask questions that will allow you to get to know someone in a very short period of time.  What is important to you?  Some typical questions are:
  1. What are some of your hobbies?
  2. What city do you live in?
  3. What do you do on weekends?
  4. What are the things you value?
  5. What are you passionate about?
  6. Musical interests
  7. Favorite shows… and the list goes on and on.
  8. What sort of work do you do?
Tell a joke if that’s what you normally do!  Conversation tends to be very casual and may be totally different with each new person you meet. You may not be interested in someone romantically, but in order to have the most possible fun at an event, we ask that you approach each conversation with an open mind. You can learn some interesting things from people you meet during speed dating events or through online dating sites and who knows, you may meet a future friend or business contact.   Check out some of our Speed dating Tips.

Please try to arrive on time and get ready for and evening of speed dating in Toronto or elsewhere! There will be a 15-30 minute sign-in period. The sign-in period gives you the opportunity to unwind, grab a drink, and mix and mingle.
  • Start time – You’ll be seated across from one of the many people that you will be meeting. Every 3-6 minutes (depending on the amount of dates) a bell will sound, take a few seconds to indicate yes or no on your match card and move to the next person. This continues until half-time.
  • Half-time (approximately 15 minutes) – Munchies are served, grab a drink and this could is a great opportunity to talk further with someone you may be interested in.
  • Second half starts – After you’ve met with everyone at the event, you’ll hand in your match card and you’re more than welcome to stay and mingle.
Matches will be posted on your profile 24- 48hrs after the event (a match occurs when both parties check off “yes” for each other). Matches include a person’s first name and email address. ALL SPEED DATING EVENT participants  need to become an event or full member in order to receive their matches.
