A successful pick-up line’s quality will match the intention of the person it’s directed at.

For example, if you’re just looking for a hook-up and your pick-up line reflects that, it will turn off a woman who’s looking for a relationship, but would probably work on someone who just wants a bed-buddy. So, if you’re looking for a girlfriend, don’t lead with ‘That dress would look great on my floor.’

Delivery is everything, if you deliver your pick-up lines in a sleazy, lecherous manner, or are sloppy drunk, unless you look like Adonis, (not gonna lie, looks can compensate for lack of poise or charm,) you probably won’t be successful with any pick-up line. So hold your ‘Heaven must be missing an angel if you’re sitting here’ and go home to sleep it off.

If you’re looking for a relationship with someone of substance, you’ve got to be very careful in your approach.  The difference between being merely offensive and getting a drink thrown in your face lies in the combination of line, delivery and general behavior.  I have polled a few women and these were their favorite pick up lines:

Successful Pick up Lines

1. ‘I’ve been trying to find the courage to give you my phone number.’ If delivered in a self-deprecating manner, this line could be irresistible. Women appreciate and can understand if you’re a little nervous, it can be endearing that you had to muster up the courage to meet her. You don’t want to go out with someone who has a problem this this line.

1. If you haven’t made eye contact or distance flirted with her from across the room, you could approach and say; ‘Someone said you were looking for me?’ Pay close attention to her reaction, if she shuts you down right then and there, it probably didn’t land well, but it’s safe, you can say ‘oh sorry, must be someone else’ and walk away without suffering the indignity of being rejected.

1. ‘Hi, my name is __________I would love to meet you, do you have a friend that could introduce us?’ This is charming, watch your delivery, it’s all in the delivery. This let’s her know you’re interested and have a sense of humour. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t appreciate a sense of humour. I also don’t know anyone who would be offended by this line.

1. ‘Do you believe in love at first sight or should I walk by again?’ This is sweet and funny, if she’s not interested, she might tell you to keep walking, but she comes off as rude in that case and you’ve dodged a bullet.

So that’s what it comes down to, if she’s interested and you aren’t obnoxious, these pick up lines could very well be successful.  If she’s not interested, it doesn’t matter how charming you are, none of these lines will work, don’t be a stalker, move on!
