Nobody wants to admit that they’ve out grown their relationship. It can be incredibly hard to come to terms with the fact that you are no longer compatible with the person that you love. When partners outgrow each other it usually isn’t anyone’s fault and staying together can often lead to unhappiness from everyone involved. Here are some signs you and your partner are drifting apart.
If your partner used to make you laugh and smile but they don’t anymore than chances are it’s not that they’ve gotten less funny, but that you aren’t interested in them anymore.
If you’re constantly bored and uninterested when you’re with your partner than that’s your brain telling you something isn’t right. This is especially noticeable on special occasions like vacations, fancy dinners and holidays; any time that you should be really happy but something just doesn’t seem quite right. This tends to be why so many people break up around Christmas or right after getting back from a vacation.
Being unhappy in your relationship may have nothing to do with your partner, but you could be taking it out on them. If you keep lashing out at your partner and they haven’t been doing anything wrong that’s a sign that you’re unhappy, if you suppress these feelings then you’re just going to keep getting mad, which isn’t fair to either of you.
Fantasizing about others from time to time is common but if you’ve started to do it all the time and your experiencing another one of these signs than you could be drifting apart from your partner. Especially if keep your choosing your fantasies instead of engaging your partner.
